A colossal contest between Don’t Kid Me and pin-up greyhound Jesaulenko was a highlight among a fabulous assembling of Traralgon Cup heats this evening.
The star Gippsland pair found themselves gridlocked throughout much of the second heat before the Steven White-trained Don’t Kid Me narrowly prevailed in 30.377sec.
The good news for local hero Jesaulenko is that the first and second placegetters have made it through to next Saturday night’s Traralgon Cup final, the fourth and final leg of the Gippsland Carnival.
However, the Terri Morris-trained sprinter’s track record over the 525m, which he set almost 12 months ago, was eclipsed by almost a length by Extreme Magic in a later heat when that greyhound clocked 29.783sec.
Other heat winners were Extreme Magic’s kennelmates Aston Dee Bee (30.354sec) and Aqua Cheeta (30.367sec) in another big night for Jason Thompson.
