Four greyhounds remain in contention to be crowned the Gippsland Carnival’s champion sprinter, while three greyhounds are in the running for the title of champion stayer as the four month carnival comes to a close this Saturday night at Traralgon.
Aston Bolero remains the clear leader in the sprint leg on 44 points, however he can’t win any more points given he isn’t competing in Saturday’s Traralgon Cup final. Meanwhile, Aqua Cheetah (34), Jesaulenko (34) and Don’t Kid Me (28) can earn a maximum of 16 points by winning the Traralgon Cup, which creates plenty of intrigue.
Competition in the stayers leg is also interesting, with Stocktake (49) and Aston Harvey (47) leading the way from Chrichton Bale (43). All three greyhounds could earn more points in Saturday night’s final leg, the Traralgon Distance Cup, although Chrichton Bale is the first reserve following last weekend’s heats, so connections are relying on a scratching in order for him to gain a run.
The first three placegetters in both the sprint and staying streams will share in $35,000 in bonus prize money. Full details below…
